Yes. Clear Thoughts Psychiatry participates with a range of major plans, including Aetna, AARP, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Cigna, Humana, Luminare Health, Medicare, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, UMR, 1199SEIU, and Anthem/Empire Plans. We continue to expand our network and will share updates as new plans are added.

If we're not in-network with your plan, self-pay options are available. If you have out-of-network benefits, we'll provide a detailed superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

We understand insurance can be confusing — our goal is to keep the process clear, transparent, and stress-free. Contact our office and we'll help you verify your benefits before your first appointment.

Yes, when clinically appropriate and supported by a thorough evaluation and diagnosis. Controlled medications are prescribed safely and thoughtfully. We may request lab work or additional assessments before initiating or continuing certain prescriptions.

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or appointments missed without prior notification, may be subject to a $50 cancellation/no-show fee. This fee is the responsibility of the patient and is generally not covered by insurance. It must be paid before future appointments may be scheduled, unless alternative arrangements are approved by Clear Thoughts Psychiatry Inc.

We understand that unexpected emergencies and circumstances may occur. Exceptions may be considered at the provider's discretion.

Supportive care — active listening, education, encouragement, and guidance — is incorporated into every psychiatric visit. Patients who would benefit from ongoing psychotherapy are encouraged to work with a licensed therapist.

For specialized therapy such as CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapy, EMDR, or ERP, we are happy to coordinate care and provide referrals to trusted therapists within the community.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation lasting about 60 minutes. We'll discuss your concerns, review your medical and psychiatric history, current medications, lifestyle, and goals, and work together to develop an individualized treatment plan.

To help your visit go smoothly, please:

  • Complete your new patient forms before your appointment
  • Bring a valid photo ID and your insurance card
  • Have an up-to-date list of your current medications
  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early for in-person appointments
  • For telepsychiatry, log in a few minutes early from a quiet, private location with a reliable internet connection
